Why First Aid at Work is Crucial.
First Aid at Work training is essential for organizations of all sizes. Whether you're running a small office, a large manufacturing plant, or a service-oriented business, emergencies can happen anywhere, anytime. Having employees who are trained in first aid can make a significant difference in the outcome of an incident.
Compliance with Health & Safety Laws: The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide appropriate first aid equipment, facilities, and trained personnel. Depending on your work environment, this may include having a sufficient number of staff trained in First Aid at Work (FAW) to comply with legal obligations.
Minimizing Risk and Liability: First aid-trained employees can mitigate the risks associated with workplace injuries by providing prompt care, potentially reducing the severity of injuries and minimizing downtime.
Building Confidence and Morale: Employees who feel their safety is prioritized tend to have higher morale, which fosters a positive work environment.

First Aid at Work Training Course Options
We offer a variety of First Aid at Work training courses to suit different workplace environments and levels of risk.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This 1-day course is ideal for low-risk workplaces. It covers the basics of first aid, including CPR, managing unconsciousness, choking, and wound management. It’s suitable for environments like offices, retail stores, and small businesses where serious injuries are less likely but basic care is still essential.
First Aid at Work (FAW)
This is a more comprehensive 3-day course designed for higher-risk environments such as factories, construction sites, and environments with potential hazards like heavy machinery. It covers a wide range of topics, including severe bleeding, burns, fractures, spinal injuries, and more advanced CPR techniques. Practical assessments ensure participants are confident in their skills.
First Aid at Work Requalification
This 2-day course is for those who have previously completed the FAW course and need to renew their certification. It ensures that participants stay up to date with the latest first aid techniques and regulations. Certificates are valid for three years, after which requalification is required.
First Aid at Work Course Content
Introduction to First Aid in the Workplace
The course begins with an overview of the role of a first aider, the importance of maintaining safety at the scene of an accident, and understanding the basic responsibilities involved. This includes an introduction to the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations and the legal obligations for workplaces.
CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS)
One of the core elements of any first aid course is the ability to perform CPR. In our FAW course, participants learn how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, as well as how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). CPR training is vital in life-threatening situations such as cardiac arrests.
Managing Unconscious Casualties
Participants are taught how to assess the situation when someone becomes unconscious, or sufferinf from the effects of seizures or anaphylactic shock . This includes checking for breathing, placing the person in the recovery position, and monitoring vital signs. For cases where the casualty is not breathing, prompt action can be the difference between life and death.
Dealing with Common Injuries
Injuries such as cuts, burns, fractures, sprain and strains are common in the workplace. Our training teaches employees how to administer appropriate care, from cleaning and dressing wounds to immobilizing broken limbs. Participants will also learn how to identify and treat minor injuries including eye injuries, helping reduce recovery time.
Managing Major Illnesses
Certain medical conditions like heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and asthma attacks can occur suddenly in any environment. The FAW course covers how to recognize the signs of these conditions and what immediate actions to take to provide life-saving first aid.
Cross Infection and Health & Safety Protocols
Ensuring the safety of both the first aider and the casualty is crucial. Participants are taught how to minimize the risk of cross-infection by using protective equipment like gloves, masks, and antiseptics. Our trainers emphasize the importance of following proper hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
Trauma and Spinal Injuries
For high-risk workplaces, trauma and spinal injuries are potential hazards. Our FAW course includes training on how to handle spinal injuries without causing further harm, as well as how to manage crush injuries, head injuries, and situations involving severe trauma.
Training Course Deliverables
