Aim2Aid Ltd is regarded well enough that we point Basingstoke employers straight at the reviews widget on our site rather than talk about ourselves, and then get on with the training itself.

Course Options
Aim2Aid Ltd runs its first aid training at your own premises in Basingstoke, so the course you pick is decided by the risk profile of your workplace rather than by a room we happen to have free. Every first aid course we deliver is accredited by FAIB, and every mental health course we deliver is accredited by FAA. Certification runs for three years and is recognised by HSE, Ofsted and the DfE.
The regulated first aid qualifications
The two workplace qualifications sit at different levels of depth. Emergency First Aid at Work is a one day course of about six hours for up to 12 delegates, ending in a 3-year certificate. First Aid at Work is the fuller qualification for higher risk sites and larger headcounts, and it also carries a 3-year certificate. Paediatric first aid sits alongside both for anyone working with infants and children. Life-threatening bleed control is now trained on every course we run, without exception.
Mental health first aid
Mental health first aid is a separate discipline with its own accrediting body, and we keep that boundary clear: FAA accredits those courses. The syllabus covers recognising signs of distress, opening a conversation, and routing a colleague towards professional support rather than attempting to treat them. Many Basingstoke employers book it after a physical first aid course, once the emergency response plan is already in place.
Matching the level to the risk assessment
The Health and Safety Executive expects the number and type of first aiders to follow from your own first aid needs assessment, which is where the choice between the one day and the fuller qualification is settled. Low hazard offices, letting agencies and professional services usually land on the one day route. Workshops, warehousing, manufacturing and anywhere with machinery, chemicals or working at height usually land on the fuller one.

First Aid at Work in Basingstoke
Basingstoke workplaces we train in tend to fall into three shapes: business park offices on the Chineham and Basing View pattern, industrial and distribution units off the Daneshill and Houndmills estates, and mixed-use retail or hospitality premises in and around the town centre. Each shape changes the practical delivery, not the syllabus.
Training inside an office or business park unit
An open plan office floor or a meeting room with the chairs pushed back is enough. The practical work needs floor space of roughly two metres by one metre per manikin, a hard floor or thin carpet rather than deep pile, and access to a power socket for the AED trainer. Delegate numbers are capped at 12 for the one day course, which fits most standard meeting rooms without moving furniture out of the building.
Training inside an industrial or warehouse unit
On industrial estates we usually work in a mess room, canteen or a cleared corner of the unit. The order of the day is fixed: theory and casualty assessment first, then CPR and AED practice, then bleed control and burns, then the practical assessment. Where a site runs shifts, the cap of 12 delegates per session means a two-session pattern often covers both crews without pulling anyone off the floor for a whole day.
Local delivery and travel
If you are looking for first aid training near you in Basingstoke, our trainers travel to your address and bring every manikin, AED trainer, bleed control kit and consumable with them. Whether you need first aid courses and training in Basingstoke or first aid training in Reading, we cover the whole area, along with Berkshire and surrounding areas.

Course Content and Learning Outcomes
The syllabus is set by the qualification, so the content below is the same whether we teach it in an office or a unit. What changes is the scenario work, which we build around the hazards actually present on your site.
The primary survey, in sequence
Delegates are taught a fixed order and assessed on following it: check for danger, check response, open the airway, check breathing for up to ten seconds, then call for help and act on what they have found. Casualty assessment, the recovery position and the handling of an unresponsive casualty are all assessed practically rather than on paper.
Practical skills covered
- CPR on adult manikins, with compression depth and rate assessed
- Safe use of an AED, including pad placement and shock delivery on a trainer unit
- Choking in a conscious and an unconscious casualty
- Life-threatening bleeding, including direct pressure, dressings and tourniquet use
- Shock, burns and scalds, and minor injuries
- Seizures, fainting and the recovery position
- Hygiene technique and incident recording
Each of those items exists because it is the thing most likely to decide an outcome before an ambulance arrives, and bleed control has moved to the front of that list for every course we teach.
Assessment and certification
Assessment is continuous and practical, with a short written element. There is no pass-or-fail cliff on the day: trainers coach a delegate through a skill until it meets the standard, which is why the assessment is spread across the session rather than saved for the end. Successful delegates hold a 3-year certificate recognised by HSE, Ofsted and the DfE, and we recommend booking the requalification course before the expiry date rather than after it.
Paediatric and Specialist First Aid in Basingstoke
Nurseries, pre-schools, primary settings, childminders and holiday clubs need paediatric content, and the practical differences from adult first aid are substantial: compression depth, rescue breath technique, choking procedure and AED pad choice all change with the size of the casualty.
Paediatric content at no extra cost
We include the paediatric element with Emergency First Aid at Work at no extra cost. That matters for mixed settings, such as a leisure site, a church hall operating a toddler group, or an office with a creche, where the same first aider may be called to an adult one week and a two year old the next. Infant and child manikins are brought to every session where that content applies.
Defibrillator and AED skills
AED use is taught on every first aid course, and some sites want a dedicated session for wider staff or for a community defibrillator installed in a reception area or on an external wall. Whether you need first aid courses and training in Basingstoke or defibrillator training in Basingstoke, we cover the whole area. Pad placement for adults and for children under eight, the switch to paediatric pads or a paediatric setting, and safe operation around metal, water and oxygen are all covered step by step.
Wider coverage
Whether you need first aid courses and training in Basingstoke or first aid course services Oxford, we cover the whole area, and multi-site employers often run the same syllabus across each location so their first aid procedure reads identically everywhere.
How to Book
Booking runs in a short, fixed order so nothing is agreed until the qualification is confirmed as the right one.
The booking sequence
First, tell us the nature of the site, the headcount and any specific hazards. Second, we confirm which qualification your needs assessment points to and how many first aiders it implies. Third, we agree a date and a session pattern, allowing for the cap of 12 delegates per session. Fourth, we confirm the room requirements in writing. Fifth, the trainer arrives with all equipment and consumables, and certificates follow after the assessment.

Renewals and refreshers
Certificates run three years from the assessment date. Annual refresher sessions are widely recommended to keep skills sharp between requalifications, and they are short enough to run inside a normal team meeting slot. We will hold your certificate dates so the requalification lands before expiry rather than after.
Training Formats and Group Booking
Every format below is delivered at your premises. We do not run open courses for individual delegates and we do not use a training centre.
Blended delivery as an option
Emergency First Aid at Work can run as a blended course: the theory is completed online in advance, then the practical assessment is delivered at your venue. The compliance position is unchanged, with a one day course of about six hours, up to 12 delegates and a 3-year certificate. Blended delivery suits shift patterns and split teams because it shortens the time everyone needs to be in the same room at once.
Group bookings for your staff
Group booking is the normal pattern for your business, because a single session for up to 12 delegates covers most departments in one visit. Larger workforces are handled as consecutive sessions on the same day or across two days, and we sequence them so cover is never dropped entirely.
In-house trainers
Our trainers are in-house and never outsourced. Rebecca Sullivan leads the training team, which between them holds over 50 years of combined experience, so the person standing in your workplace is accountable to the same standard on every visit.
