A colleague goes down in the office kitchen in Basingstoke, and four people stand around waiting for someone else to act. Most workplaces have the green box on the wall and nobody trained to use it.
The Essentials
- Emergency First Aid at Work runs as one day, about six hours, for up to 12 delegates, with a certificate valid for three years.
- Training happens at your premises, on a date you choose, with no training centre to travel to.
- CPR, AED use, choking, unconscious casualties, shock, anaphylaxis and life-threatening bleed control are all covered, plus paediatric content at no extra cost.
- A blended option puts the theory online and keeps the practical session at your venue, with the same duration, delegate cap and compliance.

Course Overview
The awkward part is not the training. It is the gap between an accident happening and someone knowing what to do. Most offices, warehouses and units around Basingstoke have a first aid box and nobody confident enough to open it under pressure. That is the problem this course closes.
Emergency First Aid at Work covers CPR, safe use of an AED, choking, an unconscious casualty, shock, burns and scalds, anaphylaxis and bleeding. Life-threatening bleed control is now trained on every course we run, not treated as an add-on. Delegates handle equipment. They practise on the floor, not in theory.
Aim2Aid trainers are in-house. We never outsource. Rebecca Sullivan leads the training team and brings over 50 years of combined trainer experience to the room, which is why the content stays practical rather than recited.
Our first aid courses are accredited by FAIB. Certification runs for three years and is recognised by the HSE, Ofsted and the DfE.

Assessment and Certification
People worry about failing in front of colleagues. It happens less than you think. Assessment is continuous through the day, based on practical demonstration alongside a short theory check, and the trainer coaches as they go rather than sitting back with a clipboard.
If something is not right, it gets corrected on the spot and repeated until it is. Nobody leaves guessing.
Successful delegates receive an EFAW certificate valid for three years, accepted by employers and insurers across the UK. As the Health and Safety Executive sets out in its first aid guidance, the employer decides on first aid provision based on a needs assessment of the workplace, and EFAW is the level that suits most lower-risk sites.
- Accreditation: FAIB for first aid courses, FAA for mental health courses. We keep those separate.
- Validity: three years from the date of the course.
- Recognition: HSE, Ofsted and DfE.
- Included at no extra cost: paediatric content within EFAW, useful for staff who work around children.

Booking Options and Course Dates
Here is the honest objection: losing a room and a working day. Nobody wants a training day that shuts down half the building. So the day is staged around your site rather than the other way round.
Training is delivered at your premises only. We do not run open courses for individual delegates, and there is no training centre to travel to. You pick the date. Weekdays, weekends, early starts, whatever suits the shift pattern.
What it is actually like: one room, chairs pushed back, a mat on the floor and a manikin. No power tools, no dust, no rewiring. The noise level is a meeting with occasional counting out loud. A meeting room, canteen, staff room or cleared warehouse corner all work. The room goes back to normal in ten minutes at the end.

Who the Course Is For
Plenty of businesses in Basingstoke over-buy or under-buy their first aid cover. Both cost money. EFAW is the right fit for lower-risk workplaces: offices, shops, salons, small warehouses, letting agents, care settings with light risk profiles, community groups and charities.
If your site carries higher risk, more staff or machinery, the three day First Aid at Work qualification is the correct level and we will say so rather than sell you the shorter course. Being straight about that is cheaper for you than a certificate that does not match your needs assessment.
This works for your staff and for your workplace as a whole. Employers who want a nominated first aider on every shift often train two or three people at once, so cover survives holidays and sickness. One trained person and a rota gap is not cover.
Course Format and Duration
The day is fixed and we do not stretch it. Emergency First Aid at Work runs as one day, about six hours, for up to 12 delegates, leading to a three year certificate.
Blended delivery is available for this course if a full day off the floor is difficult. The theory is completed online by each delegate in their own time, and the practical session runs at your venue. Duration, delegate cap and compliance stay the same: about six hours of course content, up to 12 delegates, a three year certificate. The classroom hours shrink, the standard does not.
- One day, roughly six hours, at your premises.
- Up to 12 delegates per course.
- Blended option: online theory plus practical at your venue.
- Certificate valid for three years.
Rebecca or one of the in-house team will talk through the format for your site before you commit. We serve Basingstoke, Berkshire and surrounding areas. You can read what other employers say through the reviews widget on our site.
