How many days is emergency first aid at work?
Emergency first aid at work is one day, about six hours of training, for up to 12 delegates, and the certificate it awards lasts three years. One day covers it in full, so your staff member leaves qualified rather than part way through a longer programme.
Ring Aim2Aid First Aid and Fire Safety Training on 07771 680794 and we will book your one day EFAW session at your workplace, blended or fully on site.

What one day of EFAW actually covers for your staff
Six hours sounds short until you see how tightly the day is packed. Emergency first aid at work is built around the things that go wrong first and go wrong fast: an unresponsive casualty, a blocked airway, CPR, choking, serious bleeding, shock, burns, and the sensible handling of a seizure or a suspected fracture until an ambulance arrives. There is no filler, and there is no lecture theatre feel to it. Delegates work in pairs on the mats, on the manikins, and on each other, because the only version of first aid that holds up under pressure is the version the hands remember.
Keeping the group to a maximum of 12 delegates is part of why one day is enough. With 12 people, a trainer can watch every set of compressions and correct depth and rate on the spot. Push the numbers higher and the day turns into a demonstration people watch. Whether you need emergency first aid at work or emergency first aid at work in Reading, we cover the whole area, and the group size stays the same wherever the training is delivered.
Our trainers are in-house and never outsourced, with Rebecca Sullivan leading them, and between them they hold over 50 years of combined experience. That is the difference between a day that ticks a box and a day your team talks about afterwards.

Why the single day suits most workplaces
The HSE expects your first aid provision to match the risk in your workplace, and for a large share of lower-risk businesses, offices, shops, salons, warehouses with sensible controls, one day of emergency first aid at work is the appropriate level. The Health and Safety Executive sets that expectation out in its first aid guidance, which is why a needs assessment matters more than a habit of booking the longest course available.
One day also has a practical advantage: you lose one shift, not three. A team of 12 can be trained on a single day at your own premises, which means no travel time, no hotel, and no staggered rota gaps while people disappear one at a time. Whether you need emergency first aid at work or emergency first aid at work services Windsor, we cover the whole area, and every session is delivered at your site rather than somewhere your staff have to drive to.
If your workplace carries higher risk, sharp tools, machinery, chemicals, working at height, remote lone working, the fuller three day course is the right call instead. We will say so plainly rather than sell you a shorter day that does not fit.

How blended delivery changes the day without changing the qualification
Blended delivery is an option and it is worth knowing about. The theory element is completed online in advance, in delegates' own time, and the practical element is then delivered at your venue. The course remains emergency first aid at work: one day, about six hours, up to 12 delegates, and a certificate valid for three years. The qualification and the compliance position are identical. What changes is how the day is shaped, with more of the contact time spent on hands-on practice because the underpinning knowledge has already been covered.
Some employers prefer everything in one block on site, and that is entirely fine. Others like the blended route because it lets a busy team work through theory around shifts. Either way, all of our first aid courses are accredited by FAIB, and our mental health courses are accredited by FAA, so you know exactly what stands behind the certificate.

What happens after the day ends
The certificate runs for three years from the date of the course. That is the number to put in the diary, because a lapsed certificate is a compliance gap that only shows up at the worst possible moment. Most employers we work with book a refresher in the final few months of year three, and many run an annual short refresher in between to keep skills sharp, which is a sensible habit rather than a legal requirement.
One extra thing that matters for a lot of workplaces: our emergency first aid at work course includes a paediatric element at no extra cost. If your staff work anywhere children are present, in a shop, a leisure site, a café, a community setting, that cover is already there in the same one day rather than being a separate booking.
Aim2Aid Ltd is registered in Windsor, Berkshire, company number 16319053, and we train businesses across Berkshire and surrounding areas at their own premises. Rebecca is happy to talk through your needs assessment first so you book the right course length rather than guessing at it, and you can read what other employers have said through the reviews widget on our site.
