EFAW is the one day workplace first aid qualification, and most low hazard employers need it rather than the longer course.

**The Essentials**

- One day, around six hours, delivered at your own premises.
- Up to 12 delegates per session, with a three year certificate.
- Covers CPR, defibrillator use, choking, bleeding, shock and burns.
- Paediatric content is included at no extra cost.
- Blended delivery is an option, with identical duration and compliance.

Aim2Aid First Aid and Fire Safety Training is run by Rebecca Sullivan, with in-house trainers who are never outsourced and FAIB accredited first aid courses. Whether you need emergency first aid at work or [emergency first aid at work in Milton Keynes](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/resources/emergency-first-aid-at-work-milton-keynes/), we cover the whole area.

## What is emergency first aid at work?

[Emergency first aid at work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/emergency-first-aid-at-work/), usually shortened to EFAW, is a one day workplace first aid qualification covering roughly six hours of training. It prepares a nominated person to deal with the immediate emergencies that happen at work: unresponsive casualties, choking, bleeding, shock and burns, until the emergency services arrive.

## The course covers the emergencies that cannot wait

EFAW is deliberately narrow. It is built around the incidents where minutes matter and where doing nothing is the worst option. Delegates practise assessing a scene, managing an unresponsive casualty with and without breathing, CPR and defibrillator use, choking, severe bleeding, shock, burns, scalds and minor injuries, plus how to record what happened and when to call for help.

What it is not is a general health and safety course, and it is not the three day qualification. Higher risk workplaces, or those with more complex needs identified by their assessment, need the fuller first aid at work course instead. The [Health and Safety Executive](https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/l74.htm) (HSE) sets out that your first aid provision follows from your own needs assessment, not from a guess. Whether you need emergency first aid at work or emergency first aid at work in Reading, we cover the whole area.

Every session is run by our own in-house trainers, led by Rebecca, and never outsourced to a third party. Between them they hold over 50 years of combined training experience, which means the practical work is grounded in real incidents rather than a slide deck.

If you need [emergency first aid at work in Reading](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/resources/emergency-first-aid-at-work-reading/) as well, that is work we do.

## Who needs it and how long the certificate lasts

Most low hazard workplaces, offices, shops, small warehouses, salons and similar, appoint one or more EFAW qualified people rather than sending staff on the longer course. The qualification is valid for three years, after which it needs renewing. Annual refresher practice in between is strongly advised, because CPR and bleed control are physical skills that decay.

Numbers are capped at up to 12 delegates so nobody stands at the back watching. Training is delivered at your own premises, on your own floor plan, with your own kit, which is a far better rehearsal than a strange room. Searching for emergency first aid training close to your own site? Our trainers travel across Berkshire and surrounding areas, so getting a course into your diary rarely means waiting weeks. Whether you need emergency first aid at work or emergency first aid at work in Windsor, we cover the whole area.

One point worth stating plainly: our EFAW includes paediatric content at no extra cost. If your staff might ever deal with a child, a customer's toddler, a visitor, a family member on site, that cover is already there.

The same team covers [emergency first aid at work in Windsor](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/resources/emergency-first-aid-at-work-windsor/).

## Accreditation and how the day is delivered

Our first aid courses, EFAW included, are accredited by FAIB. Our mental health courses sit under FAA. Those two bodies are not interchangeable, and any provider telling you one accreditation covers everything is being loose with the facts.

The standard format is a single day at your premises, around six hours, up to 12 delegates, with a three year certificate on successful completion. A blended option is also available: the theory is completed online in advance and the practical assessment happens at your venue. The duration, the delegate cap, the compliance standing and the three year certificate are identical. It simply takes less time off the shop floor on the day itself. Full details of the emergency first aid at work course, including what is assessed, are set out on the course page.

We take on [emergency first aid at work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/emergency-first-aid-at-work/) too.

## Booking a course for your workplace

Aim2Aid Ltd is registered at 70 Fountain Gardens, Windsor, Berkshire SL4 3SX, company number 16319053. We train at client premises only, which means we do not run open courses for individual delegates. If you need a certificate for one person, you need an employer to book the session.

Tell us how many staff need training, what your site looks like and whether you want the standard or blended format, and we will confirm a date. If you want to see what other employers say about the training first, the reviews widget on our site pulls that through directly.

- One day, about six hours, at your premises
- Up to 12 delegates per course
- Three year certificate, FAIB accredited
- Paediatric content included at no extra cost
- Blended delivery available with the same compliance

Call Rebecca on 07771 680794 to talk through what your workplace actually needs. No script, no upsell to a longer course you do not require.
