Who it's for

## Who first aid awareness is for

This session is for organisations that want basic first aid confidence across their people without committing to a full certificated course — teams testing the water, new starters and community groups. It is the friendly first step, and it points clearly to the next one if you need it.

Teams wanting the basics

A whole team that would benefit from shared, basic confidence.

New starters

A simple introduction as part of induction.

Community groups

Volunteers and members who want practical essentials.

Group sessions

Any group that wants to know what to do in the first few minutes.

What it covers

## What it covers

The essentials, taught practically and without pressure.

What to do first in an emergency

Keeping yourself and others safe

Calling for help effectively

Basic CPR awareness

Choking

Dealing with bleeding

The recovery position

When to call 999 and what to say

This is an awareness session, not an accredited qualification — it does not issue an HSE/FAIB certificate. When you need a formal certificate, step up to [Emergency First Aid at Work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/emergency-first-aid-at-work/) or [First Aid at Work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/first-aid-at-work/).

Next steps

## When you need a certificate

Awareness training is about confidence, not compliance. If your risk assessment says you need a nominated, certificated first aider, this session is the wrong tool — and we will tell you so honestly.

For lower-risk workplaces, the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course gives you a recognised, FAIB-accredited certificate valid for three years. For higher-risk settings, the three-day First Aid at Work qualification is the right level. We are happy to point you to whichever fits.

Not sure what you need? Just ask us — we will tell you honestly which course fits.

FAQ

## About the awareness session

### What is a first aid awareness course?

It is a short introductory session covering the essentials of first aid — what to do first, calling for help, basic CPR awareness, choking, bleeding and the recovery position. It builds confidence but is not a formal qualification.

### Does first aid awareness give me a certificate?

No — it is an awareness session, not an accredited course, so it does not issue an HSE/FAIB certificate. If you need a certificate, the Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work courses are the right choice.

### How long is the awareness session?

Usually a few hours — short enough to fit around a normal working day, while still giving everyone hands-on practice of the essentials.

### Is it suitable for a whole team or new starters?

Yes — it works really well for whole teams and as part of induction for new starters, giving everyone a shared baseline of basic first aid confidence.

### Do you deliver it onsite?

Yes — it is designed to run in your meeting room or venue in a few hours, so the whole group can join in without travelling.
