# Blended learning first aid courses

Theory in your own time, practical with a trainer. Blended learning splits a first aid course into an online module people complete individually, then a shorter face-to-face session onsite — less time off the floor, the same accredited outcome.

Who it's for

## Who blended learning is for

Blended learning suits any team that struggles to release everyone for a full day at once. If you run shifts, cover multiple sites, or work rotas in hospitality, retail or care, splitting the theory from the practical makes training far easier to schedule.

Shift-based teams

People who cannot all be off the floor on the same day.

Multi-site employers

Organisations coordinating training across several locations.

Hospitality, retail and care

Rota-driven settings where cover is tight.

Self-directed learners

Staff happy to work through theory at their own pace.

What it covers

## How blended learning works

The same competencies as the classroom course, delivered in two parts.

Online theory module completed individually, in advance

Work through the knowledge at your own pace

A shorter face-to-face practical with a trainer

Hands-on skills assessed in person

The same syllabus as the classroom equivalent

The same FAIB-accredited certificate

Practical delivered onsite at your premises

Certificate valid for three years

A blended certificate is the same standard as a fully classroom-based one — same accreditation, same three-year validity. The delivery is split; the rigour is not. For the full skills detail, see [Emergency First Aid at Work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/emergency-first-aid-at-work/) or [First Aid at Work](https://www.aim2aid.co.uk/first-aid-training/first-aid-at-work/).

Is it right for you?

## The honest pros and cons

The upside is scheduling: your team completes the theory whenever it suits them, and the in-person day is shorter, so you lose less operational time. The outcome — the certificate and the standard — is identical to the classroom route.

The trade-off is that the online part needs a little self-discipline; people have to actually complete it before the practical. And the hands-on session is still essential, because first aid skills have to be practised in person. If your team would rather do everything in one go, the standard classroom courses are still there.

Onsite delivery

## Practical delivered onsite

The hands-on half comes to you.

Once your team has completed the online theory, we run the practical session at your premises — shorter than a full classroom day, and scheduled around your rota.

FAQ

## Blended learning questions

### What do you mean by blended learning?

Blended learning combines online theory, completed individually in your own time, with a shorter in-person practical session led by a trainer. You get the flexibility of e-learning and the hands-on assessment first aid needs.

### What best describes blended learning?

Online theory plus in-person practical. The knowledge component is done at your own pace online; the physical skills are taught and assessed face-to-face with a trainer onsite.

### What are the downsides of blended learning?

The online part needs some self-discipline — it has to be completed before the practical — and a hands-on session is still required, because first aid skills must be practised in person. For teams who prefer one continuous day, the classroom courses suit better.

### Is a blended certificate the same as classroom?

Yes. A blended course carries the same FAIB accreditation and the same three-year validity as the fully classroom-based equivalent. The delivery is split; the standard is the same.

### Do you deliver the practical onsite?

Yes. Once the online module is done, the practical runs at your workplace and can be timed to fall between shifts.
